Method of sewing flat Peter Pan collar







Step 1

Place the shoulder lines of front and back of the bodice draft together on a sheet or paper as shown in the figure. Let Points at E coincide and points at F overlap by 1/2” .
Step 2
Trace the neck line A- E-C. Remove the Front and back draft. Draw another line A’ E’ And C’, 2” away from the neck line and parallel to the neck line A-E-C and give shape as shown in the figure.
Step 3

Add ½” seam all around and cut the draft of the collar.

Hi Vani,

Great to see the tutorials.I have few doubts on the pattern of the peter pan collar.

Is AE the neck folded in half of the front and EC neck folded in half of the back bodice?...Im getting a weird shape when i do that!

Front of the bodice is folded in to half.Then neck line gets folded where
A is the mid point of the front neck line.Need not fold back as there are 2 portions in the back right back and left back.you can take any one .E-C itself is half of the back neck line ' you need not fold again

Thanks for the speedy reply!..Im trying to do this collar on a kurta...So i have not made the back into two pieces like left and right....back is single piece for me like the front...

Thanks a lot Vani...but could you also tell what does it mean by neckline?...how do we measure that??
